Well......My journey started end of September 2008, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34 years. I had a mastectomy to the left breast and 10 lymphnodes removed. The pathology report indicated my tumor was 17cm large, but the abnormalities in my lymphnodes were clear.
I have undergone physio on my arm, finished 6 cycles of chemotherapy (Yaaahhh!!) and now on my last 3 treatments of radiation. I have started hormonal treatment (Tamoxifen). So far, all ok. I knew absolutely NOTHING about breast cancer until the unevitable happened to me!!
My eldest sister was also diagnosed 3 weeks after me, so it has hit home ten-fold.
So, I am as involved as I can be with BCFWA, taking advantage of the support groups and counselling for now, but planning on getting back to health and work out a way of giving back. Thank you to Ros Worthington for her passion and determination!! BCFWA are a fantastic foundation.
I haven't purchased my purple boots yet, but certainly plan to put it on my list of 'Must Haves'. For now, I am happy to be involved and get to know some like-minded people.
This is a GREAT cause!!

I"m so glad to see Lisa generously sharing her story! You're a real trooper Lisa. So many people (wrongly) assume breast cancer affects only older women, but you are living proof of how wrong that is! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
Warmest regards,
Sherryl (BCN)

Thank you so much Lisa for joining our site and sharing your story. It is amazing how many young women like yourself and your sister are being affected by breast cancer so we are working together to increase awareness across the globe!
Do you mind if I feature your story and yourself on our MEMBERS page of the site so other women can be inspired by your courage and determination? You are a true inspiration the way you are staying positive and using the BCFWA services as much as possible - that is what we are here for!
All the best for your future treatment and sure we will meet in at the office or an event soon!
Best wishes
Ness
