The Breast Cancer Foundation of WA, Steel Blue and WA Engineers Australia are working together to support and raise awareness about breast cancer by spearheading the Purple Boot campaign.
The Purple Boot campaign coincides with Engineers Australia
declaring 2007 ‘The Year of Women in Engineering’.
Steel Blue first came onto the Australian market in 1995 and quickly set the benchmark in comfortable safety footwear and has over the years steadily built its reputation with its aim to make the world’s most comfortable safety boot.
The company is also dedicated to providing support to local communities through a variety of programs. In 2003 the company was awarded the national ‘Telstra and Australian Government’s Small Business of the Year Award’ and used the prize money to establish the Steel Blue Foundation
Steel Blue Foundation patron Dennis Lillee said both the company and Steel Blue Foundation were proud of its new partnership with the Breast Cancer Foundation of WA and Engineers Australia.
Founded in 2000 by Ros Worthington OAM, the Breast Cancer Foundation of Western Australia aims to improve the quality of life for women living with cancer.
Since its inception the Foundation has provided practical, financial and emotional support to hundreds of women, men and families who have had to face challenges following the diagnosis of breast cancer.
The Breast Cancer Foundation of WA places a strong emphasis on educating the community about breast cancer. The Foundation is currently designing a Youth Education Package which will be available to schools, TAFEs and universities across the country.
The money raised from the Purple Boot campaign will help the Breast Cancer Foundation of WA complete this initiative.
