Purple Boot Brigade results in national online breast cancer support project

In June 2009, Edith Cowan University (ECU) secured a grant for $221,000 from the Australian Research Council Linkage Projects fund to support the project for the period 2009/10 - 2011/12 Financial Years. This is supported by in-kind support from ECU, including ECU staff support, and is to be met with support from BCFWA and approx funding from the Purple Boot Brigade. Part of the success of this project funding was the experience of the ECU researchers involved and the success of the Purple Boot Brigade online education initiative

The project involved a formal three year PhD research project for the development of online social networks and the provision of online professional support to those affected by breast cancer across Australia.

It is an amazing opportunity to lead the way in providing innovative support services to the community located remote communities and/or having limited ability to seek face-to-face support services.

More details will be made available to Purple Boot Brigade members as they become available.
