| "I first started wearing your boots in 1999 whilst in the RAN. That pair did 60 trips to East Timor in HMAS Jervis Bay. They were constantly soaked in sea water, and battered on steel decks and hatch combings for years. One month ago a tragedy occurred. They blew out. The team at GEMCO have added the purple boots to their approved safety boot list which enables staff to purchase as part of their PPE issue. As part of the ‘Fashion and Flower’s fund-raising lunch hosted by Fraser’s Restaurant for BCFWA, a brave bunch of Breast Cancer Survivors paraded both their courageous fighting spirits with a pair of Steel Blue boots! With Ros Worthington emceeing the parade, the audience was given the opportunity to hear these brave women’s stories of how they battled breast cancer, but most importantly how they survived the disease to become stronger and more determined to live life to the fullest. There was not a dry eye in the house and it was a privilege to meet these extraordinary women. |

Thanks to Ralph Koch (Steel Blue) for getting the guys at BOC, Alice Springs, to supply my Purple Boots in time for the start of the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. I went a bit further in the interest of the cause and got Hairdresser, Kelly Luke, of Yulara, to dye my 'goatee' an appropriate colour to go with my boots. She, in fact, has a pair of Purple boots herself, and those are hers together with mine in one of the photos. I have been making a spectacle of myself for the past 4 days and everyone is very responsive and supportive when I tell them why I've got a purple beard and boots. Engineers Australia (WA Division) members hosted a number of ‘Purple Boot Days’ across Perth to celebrate August’s Engineering Week. With purple boots swarming the offices of the Water Corporation, GRD Minproc and Calibre Projects, there were many smiling faces and fantastic team spirit on show! |

I am the proprietor of Jekka's Herb Farm. I met the Flemings gang at Chelsea their garden was near my display in the floral marquee. On the last day they gave me a pair of the purple boots. I have worn them with pride since. I am visiting Australia to give a series of lectures in 2008 and if the boots are still alive after my trips this year to China and South Africa I will be wearing them . Western Australia’s Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan donned his pair of Steel Blue Purple Boots this week to help spread the word that early detection of breast cancer saves lives. Along with Assistant Commissioner Barbara Etter and Breast Cancer Foundation of WA Founder Ros Worthington OAM, the Commissioner encourages all Western Australians to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Assistant Commissioner and Officers will be representing the WA Police at the BCFWA’s Purple Twilight Walk on Saturday 6 October 2007. |
